What makes this different than dry rock?
Bommie Reef Rock has been cycled and established with nitrifying communities for 12 months or more. It is ready for livestock to gradually be introduced.
Our aquacultured live rock is illuminated at 250umol of PAR under banks of T5 and LED fixtures with actinic and blue plus lamps to simulate the lighting found on todays blue heavy aquariums.
What makes this different from other live rock online or at stores?
Our live rock is aquacultured on land in closed rock only systems. It is 100% pest free, natural, and is not sourced from the ocean. It does not require lengthy “curing” for die off. Bommie Reef Rock is 3rd party tested for parasites and pathogens to help ensure there is no introduction to a new or existing aquarium via live rock.

Will your live rock prevent nuisance algae?
We would like to be able to say that it does, but many factors go into algae and bacterial blooms. In our customer’s experiences Bommie Reef Rock greatly limits and in some cases eliminates “the uglies” or new tank syndrome. It has also showed promise in assisting established tanks with bacterial or algal blooms where outside causative factors are not identified however, we can not verify this due to a limited sample size. Will my live rock turn dark purple/pink?
All Bommie Reef Rock has been seeded with several strains of coralline algae. If you are interested in live rock that has not been introduced to coralline algae spores please contact us for availability.
